Introduced in 1940, the Japanese A6M Zero – among the most capable dogfighters of World War II – claimed an impressive kill-to-loss ratio of 12-to-1 before Allied tactics and technology surpassed it by 1942. The aircraft served through the end of the war in nearly every Japanese-present region, including Saipan with the 261st Naval Air Corps, as the markings on the striking model demonstrate.
